  • Treatment for Rosacea

Rosacea is a skin infection characterized by facial redness and pimples. It affects both men and women; however, it is three times more likely to occur in women than in men.

Anybody can suffer from rosacea; however, it is more pervasive among people of northwestern European descent. Children and youths can be affected, but the infection rates really peak between the ages of 30 and 60.

The most common body parts, on which, rosacea occur include: the forehead, nose and across the face. This condition might also occur on the neck, chest, ears and scalp.

Rosacea can be diagnosed by simple visual observation. Diagnoses might sometimes prove difficult, if the condition co-occurs with acne vulgaris or seborrhoeic dermatitis. In such cases, consulting a medical professional might become necessary.
    Types of Rosacea

There are four main types of this condition: erythematotelangiectatic, papulopustular, phymatous and ocular. Other less pervasive variants include conglobata, fulminans and phymatous.

The erythematotelangiectatic variant is marked by permanent redness. The patient will have the propensity to flush and blush easily. Oftentimes, this variant produces widened blood vessels near the surface of the skin.

When you are affected by the erythematotelangiectatic, your skin will become sensitive, dry and flaky. You might also experience a burning, stinging and itching sensation.

The papulopustular variant is marked by permanent redness with some pus-filled bumps. Do not mistake this variant for acne. They look alike.

The phymatous variant is marked by a thickening of the skin, irregular surface nodularities and enlargement. When infected, you will probably notice some inflammation of the blood vessels near the surface of the skin. The phymatous variant is closely associated with the enlargement of the nose (rhinophyma).

The ocular variant affects the eyes, provoking redness, dryness and irritation. Cysts may form around the eyes. This is often accompanied by a sensation of itching and burning.

    Causes of Rosacea

Several factors can trigger rosacea. Extreme temperatures can provoke the condition by causing the face to flush and blush. Other factors that trigger the condition include: strenuous exercise, heat from sunlight, severe sunburn, stress, anxiety and cold wind.

Foods with high histamine content can cause episodes of flushing and blushing. Examples of foods with high histamine content include: red wine, aged cheese, yogurt, beer and cured pork products. Spicy foods can also provoke this skin condition.

Certain medications, especially drugs used for the treatment of acne have been shown to have a causal relationship with the condition.

The factors listed above are triggers. Triggers are not necessarily causes. Triggers are more closely associated with aggravators rather than causes. Most sufferers of this condition do not notice any significant improvement of their condition after they get rid of these triggers.

Hence, the need to emphasize that they are known triggers. Sufficient epidemiological scientific data is not yet available to determine whether these factors are actual causes.

    Treatment of Rosacea

There are different treatment methods available for this skin infection. The choice of treatment method depends on the type and severity of the infection. The two main treatment methods are medication and topical agents.

The medication is usually in the form of antibiotics. Antibiotics often produce a temporary remission within 2 to 3weeks, after which the redness and inflammation typically returns. Very severe cases might require lifelong treatment with antibiotics.

Revitol Rosacea cream is a top of the line topical treatment. The all-natural revitol cream contains bacteria-fighting agents that kill the bacteria on the surface and nourish the skin.
